Confessions: Cities I wouldn’t mind living

Those of you who know me, know I’m not a city girl, or better said, not al all. “So why do you live in a city then?” I can hear you wonder … well basically because I love the conveniences that living in a (small) city brings me, such as cycling to work and the gym (or basically cycle everywhere), having a grocery store within a 3 minute walk and being able to go to shops/bars/restaurants without having to grab the car.   Arnhem, the city where we live, is among the greenest cities in The Netherlands. Urban Outdoors: Cycling in Luxembourg City

Nine years ago we visited Berlin together (incl. parents-in-law) for the very first time. Here we were introduced to cycling in the city and looking back at it, this was the highlight of our trip. We are typical Dutchies after all so love to cycle anywhere we can. It’s a giant island in the central part of Stockholm and belongs to the Royal National City Park, which is actually the first national city park in the world. Visit Stockholm was so kind to provide me with a complimentary Stockholm Card and today,…

The Urban Outdoors of Munich – part 1

Munich is one of those places that we always used to just pass by when traveling. Located in southern Bavaria, it’s the last big city in Germany before reaching The Alps, somewhere we can be found pretty much each year. As a kid, Munich was my reference point for the long journey by car I made with my parents each summer. If we were getting close to Munich, we’d be close to our final destination. Over the past year or two, we started hearing more and more good stories about this city. Yes, more stories than just the October fest, which attracts about 6 million visitors each year. So during our…
