    250 we12travel blogs: keep calm & blog on!

    Hurrah!!! This is our 250th blogpost on we12travel!  A blog that we started more than a decade ago as a picture website and turned into an actual blog about 2 years ago. Since then, we wrote exactly 250 entries, first in Dutch, later in English and now in both languages. Never would I have thought that I’d ever write 250 posts (more or less, Martijn also wrote some of them) about travel and anything travel related.     Most memorable travel moments of 2014

    It’s almost the end of the year so after publishing our travel year in selfies earlier on this week, it’s now time to share my most memorable moments in travel. Martijn doesn’t really like those kind of lists so it’s just my moments, although I’m sure he agrees on the ones he experienced with me… 1.     The Iditarod – The Last Great Race on Earth

    I’m quite sure that 95% of those reading this blog have never heard of The Iditarod before. The what? Yes, there you go, I get you…  and I’ll be honest with you:  until a couple of years ago I had never heard of it either. Until I fell in love with Alaska and learned that the Iditarod is the biggest dog sledding race in Alaska, maybe even in the whole world.     And the winner is …

    And the winner is … me! My mum always used to say I am a fanatic person. Always in for a game, a bet or a challenge. I couldn’t stand to lose. I was always playing Rummikub with my aunt, beating my dad playing cards and winning from the older guys at marbles. Whenever I do something, I try to do it as good as I can. Not doing it right is not an option. 2013 was definitely my lucky year. I won two plane tickets to South America, I won a study trip to Canada and our blog was chosen to go on a press trip to Curaçao during the launch…
