Outdoor & adventure in San Marino

When I told my friends and family that I’d be heading to San Marino the past summer, they looked at me with a bit of doubt in their eyes. ‘So, what’s to see there?’ is a frequent question I got. Or worse, some people had not even heard of San Marino before and/or had no idea where it’s located. During my stay in San Marino I got plenty of time to explore, experience and soak up the outdoor and adventure in and around San Marino.   Before I will continue telling you about my adventures, I’ll start with some general information about San Marino, because few people know about it.…

Why not to visit Capri in the winter

Google ‘Capri’ and you will see beautiful pictures from an island surrounded by turquoise waters and colorful houses built against a dramatically steep mountain. Yes, when my sister and I went to Naples in Italy for a weekend last winter, we knew idyllic Capri was going to be one of the places we really wanted to see. For one day, we’d dive into the world of the jetsetters who spend their vacations her … If only we had known what Capri is really like in wintertime.   Capri is located in the Golfo di Napoli (Gulf of Naples) and is just a short trip away from Naples. As we are…

When browsing through my pictures I realized I don’t even have proper pictures of the Naples. Because it was just plain ugly. There, I said it. Naples is ugly.…

    Walking Wednesday: Belvedere di Migliera

Belvedere di Migliera … sounds exotic, no? It was last weekend’s hiking destination, when I spent a a couple of days in Italy with my sister. Or to be more precise, we spent it around the Bay of Naples. Although the city of Naples didn’t really strike us (more on that later) the area around it is pretty stunning. We spent one of our days on the small cosmopolitan island of Capri (where there’s little cosmopolitan in winter, believe me on that one) and even though you may not expect it, there are actually quite some good hikes here to check out. The one we did, took us to Belvedere di Migliera on the southern…
