Hello!
Welcome to my page about the United States of America. A trip to the United States is very special, because very few countries in the world have such an enormous variety of cultural and natural sight. I visited America no less than eleven times and visited all the most important sights in the western US and Alaska.
This page will be the start for your active America trip with a focus on traveling through nature and hiking. Find my favorite places below, the best blogs full of personal tips, travel itineraties and of course more information about the destination. Enjoy reading and getting inspired!
Antonette in America
My first long-distance trip ever was to America, to Florida to be precise. When I landed at Orlando airport in 2001, I knew right away: “I’m going to do this more often.”
Since then, I have traveled back to America ten more times, mainly to the rugged nature of the northwest and Alaska.
I regularly traveled solo with a rental car, camped in the national parks, went on beautiful hikes and discovered the beauty of nature to the fullest.

Favorite places in America

Mesa Arch
One of the most memorable moments of my American travels was experiencing the sunrise at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park. Is it really as beautiful as the pictures? Read it here!

Skyline Trail, Mt Rainier
A place that made a deep impression on me was Mount Rainier National Park in Washington. I walked the famous Skyline Trail there and it is still one of the most beautiful walks I have done in America.

Bears in Alaska
I have been to Alaska seven times and have done plenty of bear viewing excursions. I also hiked solo as a woman in the wilderness. You can read more about safely hiking in bear country here.

Yellowstone NP
The most beautiful national park in America is, in my opinion, Yellowstone. The nature that is presented to you here is exceptional and the chance to see bears, bison and other wildlife makes it even more special!

Angel’s Landing
The Angel’s Landing hike in Zion National Park is popular, but there’s a reason for that: once you reach the top, you’ll have fabulous views of Zion Canyon. Read all about my experiences on the Angel’s Landing hike here.

Crater Lake N.P.
Crater Lake National Park is simply the most beautiful place in America. That first peek over the rim into the depth is a moment you will simply never forget! I have returned twice and will be happy to tell you all about it.
Accomodations in America
It’s good to know that America is a super popular travel destination and that you should definitely book your accommodations in advance during the high season, to avoid missing out on the best spots.
Accommodations vary from simple budget motels to beautifully situated boutique hotels. Choose an accommodation within your budget and then travel to America carefree.

Renting a car inAmerica
The best way to see the United States as a visitor is by rental car. This enables you to see all the best sights and choose your own travel pace and itinerary. I usually book my rental car with Alamo and I’ve always been very satisfied with both the vehicle and their service.
Book your rental car in time, because rates rarely get cheaper but actually always more expensive!
